My Role
I led the User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) of this project. I also received constructive feedback from two fellow colleagues in order to improve and get other perspectives about what I was designing.
The Context
Improving from an existing platform
Oli View app is an early-stage project based in Sydney. The stakeholders realized their APP did not serve the full spectrum of their service anymore. The basic challenge that has grown naturally with Oli View: with size comes complexity. They are looking for a complete information navigation redesign while aligning with the brand's visual identity. The team was small, and we worked agilely by continually updating our concepts from user feedback.
The Problem Space
How might we increase user demand via user and creators' connection,
while curating relevant and timely content ?

Our Solution
Refine the information architecture of the navigation bar
Apply filter choice for the user to find relevant content
pre-build content for the creator

Co-designing with customers
In the early days of Oli View, we were very similar to many of our users, who show interest in the investment market. But these days, people use Oli view in various organizations and roles, from dairy farms and dentists to large retailers and banks. We needed to hear from a broader group to make Oli View simpler for everyone.
We worked with customers the best way we knew how to collect feedback: through a shared chat group. It was eventually shared with around 50 users from our champion network, representing dozens of organizations around the AU. The pilot channel provided a way for us to hear unfiltered input quickly. Their collective experience lets us see where our first ideas weren’t quite right and refine our design to improve the experience.
Among the many things we learned:
Solution
Search information is critical
We wanted to make sure they were actually better: more obvious and useful for people search the market information from Oli View.

Subscription section is best way to follow and receive the analysis and guidelines
From the old design, our customers feel lost when signing up for their membership, we put this feature more obvious and bring customers back. after testing with customers, they can receive notifications for the first time.
-
Consistency layout and original icon give user an idea what is going on the next step

-
Save user's time on searching
-
Benefit for business influence

User Profile

Changes on creator site
- New profile section for Creators
Four different parts provide for creators to expand their company's influence.
- Add new button
We tried to cleverly nestle our new compose button at the top of the menu. We thought it would stand out to new users. But our participants completely ignored it. So we zapped it to the bottom of the sidebar, where people intuitively found and understood it.
Summary
We learned from them, and they were able to build off each other.
In some cases, we were able to hear feedback and ship a new version within a day, to see if it felt any better. Collaborating in real-time allowed us to co-design Oli View with people who use it, and it improved our work.

UX Metric Effectiveness
Improved work efficiency via defined metrics on the redesigns, including:
• 12% increased conversion rate- User sign up for a subscription
• 38 seconds longer on certain pages- User engagement
• User feedback like "I enjoy the new designs way more", "it helps my decision making"- Behaviour ux metrics

Reflection
Today, we’re launching a significant update to Oli view’s design. It’s not just one change, but a constellation of them—some shiny new things ( creator's channel sections!), some old things in new places and a general spring cleaning of information architecture.
Business impact - Increased 12% conversion rate
It was my pleasure to work on this project. Even though there were many design challenges from the brief, we overcame them through creative solutions, innovation and team collaboration. The input from the conservation experts and technology advisers also shaped the design proposal to a great extent.
During this project, I learned a lot about engaging with a broad range of stakeholders with different focus areas. As the product designer, it was very important to align their goals, understand the constraints and stir the wheel for design decisions. A good designer listens to the stakeholders and user groups and iterates the design constantly while ensuring the proposal does not deviate from the original design intent.
To scale up this project, it is essential to consider the cost, location and business model. The final scheme demonstrated great digital products. It achieved the goal of giving a unique, educational and meaningful experience to the general public.
Design Impact - Increase UX maturity
I feel the most challenging part is how I can make UX happen in the team, I just build wireframes, and do the user research, then I have invited to attend meetings with stakeholders, and then I could present my design work in public instead of a PM doing that for me. I realise speaking from data, not opinion. we should use data to prove our design and then build UX impact and ux maturity.
